It’s interesting to compare these two religion important
terms. Both have same meaning “Unlimited Light”. How come two unrelated
religions could get same idea? This even more interesting due to many believers
of mixed religion called Jubu or Buju. My private theory is these two
traditions indeed have some similiarity from the beginning. These two religions
had given birth several pinnacles of modern human civilization and also
technology.
Amitabha Buddha is celestial Buddha who possess pure land,
the land of Buddhahood. In Mahayana Buddhist, Amitabha has God like position comparable
to western tradition, this fact sometimes opposite to the previous tradition,
which famous quote “There is no God in Buddhism”.
The opposite also happen in Ohr Ein Sof, which come from Kabbalah
tradition of Judaism. Judaism the forerunner of monotheistic religions, had one God. The God which has
personality, favour, will and power. But Ohr Ein Sof, God prior to His self
manifestation, is sometimes depict as Zen like circle, none personification.
My theory is the Kabbalah tradition could come from analytical
and geniusness of ancient Jew, who need more explanation for the existence of
God. It similiar with modern chemist curious to know beyond water there is H2O,
beyond H2O there are Hydrogen and Oxygen, beyond atoms there are sub atoms and
so on. Buddhist tradition in fact was pure analytical from the beginning, then
Mahayana tradition started to think God like Buddha who could be worshiped,
hear our pray, and help us in our misery, and come up with Amitabha Buddha. These two reality just
opposite, interesting.
And like scientists who study on the same object, they also come
to the same conclusion, in the beginning there was Nothing. End.
